Topic: Cyber Risk for the Construction Industry
Speakers: Brian Hunt, Jeffrey Shaffer and Joseph Salazar of Aon
Description: We will discuss how technology is increasingly being adapted in the construction sector and as a result how cyber exposures are increasing for firms.
About the Speakers:
Brian Hunt has spent more than 15 years helping his clients identify and understand how risk could impact their businesses. He joined Aon in 2016 as an Account Executive in the Dallas office of Aon’s Construction Services Group. As an Account Executive, he is the main point of contact to help Aon prospects and clients think strategically about their construction-related exposure to risk.
Prior to joining Aon, Brian was a Senior Manager within Austin Industries’ Internal Audit department. Among his various duties, Brian worked to evaluate enterprise risk across the organization’s activities. Prior to joining Austin Industries, Brian spent 13 years at FM Global. As a member of FM’s Business Risk Consulting, Brian was responsible for identifying and quantifying the business risk exposures on existing accounts and introducing insured and prospects to the business risk services that FM Global offered. Prior to joining FM Global, Brian was an economic crimes investigator for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Plano, Texas. Brian conducted both domestic and international investigations on behalf of EDS, and specialized in the investigation of financial crimes against EDS. Prior to his employment at EDS, Brian was a forensic accountant with the accounting firm of Buchanan Clarke Schlader (BCS). At BCS, Brian conducted financial analysis regarding business interruption and property damage claims on behalf of large insurance carriers.
Brian is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP). Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University with a major in Accounting and a minor in Political Science. Brian also holds a Certificate in Advanced International Affairs from the Bush School at Texas A&M University and a Masters in Finance from the University of and a Masters in Finance from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.

Skilled in Intelligence Analysis, Compromise response, Forensics, Protection, Investigations and Emergency Management. Strong information technology professional with a BA focused in Political Science/International Relations from Presbyterian College. Current TS Clearance.

Joe has been with Aon since 2013, joining Aon’s Cyber Solutions in the front end 2015. Aon’s Cyber Solutions Group is a groundbreaking team made up of risk specialists from inside and outside the insurance industry, drawing from technology, law, and consulting.
Joe manages E&O / Cyber exposures for Middle Market and Large Cap clients across the United States, with a focus in the Southwest Region. Joe is the national resource for the Construction industry as it pertains to Cyber insurance, and co-leads the cyber practice group in Southwest Region.
