Immigration Compliance - It's Not Just About the Form I-9


Contractors are faced with the current administration’s increasing enforcement on undocumented workers. The second revised Form I-9 for 2017 was released in July, TXDOT will soon mandate use of E-Verify, DACA is at risk of being rescinded and the H-1 process has become more restrictive.

This interactive presentation will address areas beyond I-9s that expose companies to risk of immigration violations, current I-9 enforcement activities and other employment related immigration compliance considerations for the construction industry.

As the leader of the Human Resources Consulting group, Cyndi’s broad base of human resources experience serves clients across many industries, including manufacturing, high-tech, construction, nonprofit and government contracting. She has consulted with both large and small firms and has managed start-up entities. Her focus on human resources strategy, staffing and recruiting, policy and program development, as well as talent management and total rewards, helps clients understand and solve their most complex workforce issues. Cyndi is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences and has been published in a number of periodicals and trade publications.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to create effective practices for complete and timely I-9s; identify practices that may expose organizations to immigration compliance risk; set up and use the E-Verify system; and assess the impact of pending rule changes to recruiting and retention of workers in the construction industry.
